AV was not a fan of his style of play when he was in Vancouver and Kesler wanted no part of AV again.
He is very happy playing for a goon coach throwback like Randy Carlyle.
Again, I don't think the Rangers expected he'd be in Hartford.
Rather that he'd be challenging for the sixth spot. Well there was also KESLER(who actually stopped a trade to the Rangers). There was a deal over the summer that was nixed after the guy refused to waive his NTC(think DEMERS).
Dunno what he'd cost nor how the Pens would accommodate Brassard's contract but his acquisition would upgrade their 3rd line center spot which has been lacking since Bonino left.rf4LMon Dec 18 2017 am ESTPal17 - PIONK will most-likely be waiver-exempt.
If you look, the New York Rangers 3rd period lead strategy is still very much like Totorella.
One guy I've taken a shine to is Scott KOSMACHUK. Has some of what is missing from this team..is he a full-time NHLer? I could see him jumping into a third-line winger position to free MILLER up to play center or jump up to a top-six winger position..that said, I think the better play for Lettieri is being right where he is.
I think he'd be a very good fill-in for fourth line. He's getting a lot of good experience..from watching him, I can say he certainly has fire in his belly..course, the most talented guy is CHYTIL.
It seems like a lot of that identity is re-emerging. PJSun Dec 17 2017 pm ESTE: I'm all for agressively searching for developing trends, but I think its real premature to associate the 2017 Rangers with the Rangers Defensive Reputation of an opponent entering the 3rd period of play down a goal of the Torturella years..... ) I wouldn't be surprised if the NYR GAA was near Historic lows during one of the Torturella years, and if we were to group 2 or 3 of those years together, I again would not be surprised if they competed with the historic lows for this franchise.....
I wouldn’t hang my hat on it all season but it’s still a point of intimidation when you know that your opponent has a 2-goal lead in the third and that’s like climbing Mt. Early on, they won with pourous defense and 6-5 scores. They can still light the lamp but they can play much better defensively. ESun Dec 17 2017 pm ESTOne of the biggest surprises to me this year is the improved play of Mark Staal... Moving much better and more than decent in his own end.... This current class of Rangers need to shave .5 - .75 goals against per game for my liking....
